This series has been developed specifically for the Cambridge International AS & A Level Mathematics (9709) syllabus to be examined from 2020. Cambridge International AS & A Level Mathematics: Pure Mathematics 1 matches the corresponding unit of the syllabus, with a clear and logical progression through. It contains materials on topics such as quadratics, functions, coordinate geometry, circular measure, series, differentiation and integration. This coursebook contains a variety of features including recap sections for students to check their prior knowledge, detailed explanations and worked examples, end-of-chapter and cross-topic review exercises and 'Explore' tasks to encourage deeper thinking around mathematical concepts. Answers to coursebook questions are at the back of the book.
Drawing on over 10 years' experience of publishing for Edexcel maths, Heinemann Modular Maths for Edexcel AS and A Level brings you dedicated textbooks to help you give your students a clear route to success, now with new Core maths titles to match the new 2004 specification. Further Pure 2 replaces Pure 5 in the new specification.
Sixth Form Pure Mathematics, Volume 1, Second Edition, is the first of a series of volumes on Pure Mathematics and Theoretical Mechanics for Sixth Form students whose aim is entrance into British and Commonwealth Universities or Technical Colleges. A knowledge of Pure Mathematics up to G.C.E. O-level is assumed and the subject is developed by a concentric treatment in which each new topic is used to illustrate ideas already treated. The major topics of Algebra, Calculus, Coordinate Geometry, and Trigonometry are developed together. This volume covers most of the Pure Mathematics required for the single subject Mathematics at Advanced Level. Early and rapid progress in calculus is made at the beginning of this volume in order to facilitate the student's progress along the most satisfactory lines in Pure Mathematics, in Theoretical Mechanics and in Physics. The worked examples are an essential feature of this book and they are followed by routine exercises within the text of each chapter, associated closely with the work on which they are dependent. The exercises at the end of each chapter collectively embody all the topics of that chapter and, where possible, the preceding chapters also.
A syllabus-specific textbook providing worked examples, exam-level questions and many practice exercises, in accordance to the new Edexcel AS and Advanced GCE specification.
This volume continues the work covered in the first book, Pure Mathematics 1, and is intended to complete a full two year course in Pure Mathematics. It caters for the Pure Mathematics content of most courses in Further Mathematics and also for preparation for the Advanced Extension Award.
For students reading Mathematics, either as part of a general degree or as an ancilliary course for an Honours degree, the subject should be presented in as straightforward a manners as is consistent with a moderate standard of rigour. This course in algebra, co-ordinate geometry and calculus is designed to fulfil these requirements for students at Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology. The book contains 350 worked examples and 1550 practice examples selected mainly from university examination papers. The practice examples have been carefully graded and some hints are given with the answers so that the book may be used for private study as well as for class work.
A new edition updated to meet the needs of the Pure Mathematics encountered in all the new specifications for single-subject A Level Mathematics. This major text is clearly set out with an excellent combination of clear examples and explanations, and plenty of practice material - ideal for supporting students who are working alone. The first two chapters are vital in preparing new students, particularly those with a Grade C at GCSE, for the rigours of A Level. Each chapter concludes with a selection of exam-style questions, giving students lots of practice for the real thing!
Following on from Introducing Pure Mathematics by Smedley and Wiseman, Further Pure Mathematics covers in one volume all the pure mathematics required by students taking further mathematics. It also provides the basics for mathematics encountered in Higher Education. A clear text is supported by worked examples, exercises, and examination questions. The two books will cover the requirements of Pure Mathematics as part of double-certification Mathematics for any examinations board. · Clearly written explanations and graded worked examples to help students when they are studying alone · Wide variety of exercises · Comprehensive selection of recent exam questions from all the major examination boards
Suitable for use alongside the Pure Core textbooks in the Advancing Maths for AQA series or on its own, this revision guide is part of a revision series, including Revise for Core Maths 2, Mechanics 1 and Statistics 1.
This volume continues the work covered in Core Maths or Mathematics - The Core Course for Advanced Level to provide a full two-year course in Pure Mathematics for A-Level.
